Walk along the outer glass wall until you reach the console with the last collectible on it. There will be a small platform with a blue glow, where collectible four is waiting. Once you reach the lift, look to your left. It places you in an unfathomably dark arena where you have to dodge around while firing daggers out of your hand at bony flying. Jump to that platform and continue to the other side of the large pillar. Devil Daggers is a 1990s-esque shooter full of skeleton demons. You will need to make a leap of faith around the right side of the pillar, you will know you are in the correct spot because there will be a small platform on that right side for you to land on. Once you reach the top, turn so that you are facing the large pillar you just climbed. Once you make the large leap to land on the tiny railing, climb up as high as you can - this is the path you would normally take to progress through the area. The collectible is on the third catwalk up from the ground. Once you hit the bottom, turn to your right. The first collectible is found at the bottom of the large slide that follows finishing the opening fight. It's the successor to similarly punishing time trial games like Super Hexagon, but a little stranger, a little subtler, a little less brutally digital in the way it doles out failure. The initial panic of survival gives way to mastery as you learn to pause between shots, rocket-jump, hop, shotgun, collect shards, etc. It looks perfect-like running an old-school FPS on a too-large, busted monitor-and sounds better. It is flawlessly designed, in that it achieves all of its ambitions. Devil Daggers feels timeless, which is the best excuse I've got for forgetting that it came out this year.
